It’s an $11,000 value – but more than that, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And one sure to provide the winning storyteller with even more spectacular tales to tell!
You’ll explore the rugged natural wonder of the Northwest Territories in total comfort, travelling in a 14-passenger luxury coach. The tour can be enjoyed at any level of physical activity, and you’ll have an experienced guide with you at all times. You’ll get the most out of a wide variety of peak experiences, including boat tours, golfing, hiking, culinary and city tours – and soaring over Nahanni National Park’s majestic Virginia Falls (twice the height of Niagara Falls) in a Twin Otter bush plane!
Day one
Fly from your home city to Yellowknife. Meet and greet at a choice hotel.
Day two
Full city tour of Yellowknife. Visit the famous Buffalo Air hangar, and fly the historic DC 3 aircraft with an ice pilot to Hay River.
Day three
Spend the day exploring Hay River. Dip your toes in Great Slave Lake, visit the Katlodeeche First Nations and discover the historic west channel.
Day four
An early departure to Wood Buffalo National Park. Visit Angus Tower, the site of a very large sinkhole. This region is excellent for wildlife viewing and offers an optional hike to the Salt Plains.
Day five
Tour Fort Smith, followed by a trip to Louise and Alexander Falls. Then, after enjoying dinner in Enterprise, carry on visiting Kakisa and overnight in Fort Providence.
Day six
Spend the morning exploring Fort Providence, and travel the highway to view the largest land mammals in North America, the bison. In the afternoon, head to Fort Simpson.
Day seven
This is the highlight of the trip. You board a twin otter bush plane and tour the legendary Nanhanni National Park. Flying to the majestic Virginia Falls (twice the height of Niagara Falls), you’ll land on the Nahanni River and take an easy hike to a spectacular viewpoint. You’ll then fly over to Little Doctor Lake and relax on this glacier lake.
Day eight
Start day eight with a tour from Shehtah Adventures and travel the region by boat, including a fresh fish shore lunch.
Day nine
The itinerary closes with a full community tour of Fort Simpson and an afternoon flight back to Yellowknife.
